The Foursite Film Festival is shaping up. We are very excited to show our opening night films, "Saving God" preceded by "Father Forgive Me".

Saving God is a new film about faith in the streets starring Ving Rhames as Pastor Caine.

Father Forgive me is a Foursite Film Institute original short film.

6th Annual Foursite Film Festival is about to embark! Be sure to get your tickets and show up early because our new ticketing makes the festival more affordable than ever! Now, instead of buying a ticket for each individual screening, all you have to do is purchase one ticket per day. That means you can participate in all the events of the day for just $10. The opening reception is the only exception. That is $15, but you still get to attend the opening Night Film "Saving God".

Big things in the workings?

Well it has been quite the while since anyone has posted on this, and I feel like honestly Scott should be posting, but as he's busy and I'm his assistant, here I am posting.

Lots of things, big things, are in the woodworkings. We have some amazing potential sponsors to help us do some amazing things with Foursite and it's all together exciting and scary. I look at where I was a year ago and I had no clue what Foursite was or who Scott was, but I have seen it grow so much in even a year. We've gotten our first offices, we've moved the festival to four sites, finally fulfilling our name. We've done the first IDP with WSU, we've done our first Student workshop and first Dinner and a movie with Ogden Arts.

I've jumped into this snowball that keeps rolling and rolling and getting bigger and bigger and the more and more things that get packed on the harder and harder it seems like it will ever be to leave if the time calls for it. Like I said, to be apart of something like this is both exciting and scary.

Keep posted! We're having a meeting this week to start talking about the fall plans to get the festival moving again in March!!!!

Getting So Close!

Well we're not far off! Things are moving too fast! We're getting excited to have the festival here though! And even when we feel like we can't handle what's coming up through our illnesses or exhaustion, we buck up and say, "Bring it On!" We'd like to thank our good friend Caffeine for getting us through some busy and late nights.

No, But seriously, The fest is going to be awesome this year! The Wildcat theater looks beautiful! We have posters up at the Megaplex 13 at the Junction in Ogden. Posters are all over 25th street and we have big banners up at All our venues! The street flag banners are all down Washington Boulevard and looking pareety good!

Our store is up on Paypal! We have t-shirts in red, black, and tan. The red and black are the same except for the color and the tan says, on the back, "I have foursite." There's long sleeved black shirts, but those are limited. We also have awesome hats (I love our hats.) and also these jacket, shell lining things. I want to get hoodies going. Those will look pretty sweet, Scott and I have been working on the design for those! On our website and our myspace, we have a link to our store.

If you're intersted in buying tickets, you can do that on our website. it's the fastest and easiest way to purchase tickets!

We have our commercials on 101.9 FM. Chunga is in our opening night film, Heber Holiday. We have some awesome commercials on there that Scott and I edited. Well Scott edited. I backseat edited. :) But the commercials are awesome. We used the voice talents of Scott, Kristi Meaders, and Nikki Pappas.

The Film Schedule is almost finished!

Yay! We're this much closer to getting the festival going. For the past week Scott and I have been working on the festival schedule, which movies are showing and where. We're way excited! There are some really really awesome shorts programs and some great features. We're opening Wednesday night with Heber Holiday! It's a film shot in Utah about a Hollywood Diva who gets lost here in Utah. It has Chunga from 101.9 in it and it really is a going to be a great night with the opening reception and the premiere of Heber Holiday.
Xterra sports is having a mountain and sports night Friday night at Egyptian Theater. They'll be giving away snowboarding gear and such. But I have to be honest. I am more excited about what's showing at Wildcat theater that night. It's a film called STOMP! SHOUT! SCREAM! It's like a b-rate 60's horror flick complete with a girl band and a monster (the skunk-ape) who likes to kill people. It's a perfect movie to show at Wildcat Theater! We'll also be showing a students shorts program at Wildcat theater!
Also at the Wildcat theater will be the IDP, or the university project. We're way excited for this premiere! There will also be other dance and music films that night with that program. I look forward to watching, Cocoon, again. It's a short about a dancer who is faced with a problem that will affect her life in very dramatic ways depending on which ways she chooses to handle it.
There are a few shorts I am looking forward to! There is one called Federal Affair that I know we're trying to show as much as possible. It is just about 4 minutes long, but it is brilliant! 300 pounds has become a favorite with the judge. Some of the kids shows are also great! There's a stop animation called Davie and Golymir that we'll show at the kids fest at Treehouse Museum. It is based off of David and Goliath. We also for the kids fest: Hold the onions, A Christmas Soldier, Letting go, Gretchen Brettschneider Skirts Thirty and many many others that are fantastic.
We'll be posting the official schedule soon on our website! We're showing what looks like 82 films. We're stoked! We're getting closer and closer to the festival and putting on some great events this year!

OPENING NIGHT FILM

I am excited to be able to talk about the festival this year. We are packing it FULL! There is so much good that will be happening this year that we have had a VERY hard time letting things go due to time limitations. That means we are sure to have something for everyone no matter what time they come to the festival.

First of all our opening night film is a VERY anticipated film shot in UTAH. I met up with the filmmakers last weekend and they are so excited! So are we! We are so excited that we have announced the premiere of the film before the schedule is posted. University Project Film Shoot

This past weekend the Foursite Institute collaborated with students from Weber State University to work on a film project that will premiere at the Film Festival. I had the chance to be on the set and crew of this project. I served as costume designer and hair artist. I also got to hold expensive cords....eeh! (wrangler?)

As this project continues, I start to see how phenomenal it is. I, for one, have learned so much about film production through this! I am familiar with the stage theater, but I never realized what went into films to be made! But this project, and future projects, give students an amazing opportunity to get their talents out there. I was in awe at the talent that was pulled into this project. There were dancers, makeup, choreography, direction, photography, cinematography, lighting design, location scouting, etc. Everyone was great to work with, taking ideas from each other, listening to others visions and epiphanies!

Scott, the director of Foursite, served as our director of photography. His experience and advice were greatly accepted as he fine tuned our talents to create a beautiful piece of work. Annika and Lyndy, our directors/choreographers did a beautiful job portraying their vision and directing the dancers and crew as to what they wanted to see. Each time a dancer got up to do their thing, I would think, "This is my favorite dance," until the end when I couldn't decide which was singled out as my favorite.

Well after three long, mostly cold, very snowy days, and 6 locations, many tapes, hours of footage and quite a few safety pins, the film got shot with some beautiful footage and beautiful dancing. We are all very excited for the post production work to get done so we can see the film! We are excited as Cimmaron and Scott start to editing and putting the shots together to bring out this vision! It's going to premiere March 6 at the newly renovated Wildcat Theater at Weber State!

Hello Everyone,

I am very excited to be able to bring you this new blog from the Foursite Film Festival. We have been making several groundbreaking developments this year. Part of that is the development of the film festival as part of a greater film institute.

Mandee Shaffer is going to be managing this blog. She is fun so I hope you keep tuned to her blog. I will also be participating on this blog as often I can.

I am very pleased to bring you the Foursite Film Festival. I hope you attend and participate and enjoy. Quality is our creed. We love quality independent film produced in good taste.

Welcome to the Foursite Film Festival

The vision of the Foursite Film Festival was born in March 2004 when Scott Halford, an undergraduate student at Weber State University (WSU), produced a film he wanted others to see. Halford organized the festival so that he could show his film to a larger audience in a high quality setting.

During the first two seasons, the festival went by the name “Just Another Film Festival,” and was hosted in the Wildcat Theatre at WSU. In order to make the event more attractive, other filmmakers were invited to submit their films. There were more submissions than time permitted to be screened during the first year. Submissions came from all over the U.S. and Canada. In its second year, the festival was extended to a three-day event. Nevertheless, there still was not enough time to screen all the films submitted and once again the festival attracted international submissions.

Due to the increasing success of the festival, Halford moved the location of the festival to Peery’s Egyptian theatre in historic downtown Ogden and changed the name to “Foursite Film Festival” to reflect his optimistic view on the future of independent cinema.
